LEVEL UP YOUR POTENTIAL - Educator Edition Activities
Below you will find activities that align with the Toolkit. These activities are designed to enhance classroom learning and the interactivity of the materials. Feel free to adjust and adapt to meet the needs of your students. Have fun!
REDISCOVER YOUR WHY
Your WHY is your purpose, your motivation. In module 1 students did some work to identify their WHY. This step asks them to revisit their WHY and who they want to be in 5 years.
To help students dive deeper into their self-motivation, adapt this partner activity from Simon Sinek. It explains a pretty powerful activity that helps develop listening skills, storytelling ability, and self-knowledge. It’s a great leadership activity.
MEASURE YOUR GROWTH
Helping students measure growth from multiple angles is a good way to help them gain perspective and tap into their strengths. In Module one they completed the https://azcorescore.com/ and Via Character Strengths Survey.
To build on their leadership skills, pair students and have them engage in peer coaching.
Peer coaching steps:
Review initial results and have a conversation about how the student has grown.
Retake each assessment and see what has changed.
Reflect on how working on a retail team has helped the student grow as a person, an employee, and a leader.
SET NEW LEADERSHIP GOALS
Leadership isn’t about authority or being in charge. It’s about good decision making and the ability to communicate effectively with others. AND it’s about self-improvement. In this action step students set short-term SMART goals around one of the following leadership traits: Being a Self-starter; Being Goal Oriented; Being Flexible; or Decision Making.
To help students think through their SMART goals, use a peer coaching model for one-on-ones. As a class watch this video on goal setting and self-limiting behaviors. Then break into peer coaching pairs to review SMART goals.
Peer coaching one-on-ones:
Identify the leadership area they are working on.
Review the SMART goal.
Discuss the progress they have made so far and how this goal will help them grow.
MAP YOUR CAREER
Plans change. Interests change. So it’s always a good idea to re-evaluate plans--or make a plan if you don’t have one. To enhance this action step, have a Gallery Walk once the students have completed their Career Maps.
This is a great time to host a networking event with parents, employers, and school administration to celebrate students achievements and future goals.
